A joint seminar "Resource management and Development" was held from February 18 to 19 in Huye, southern Rwanda, jointly hosted by the local Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Science (PIASS). This is the second international seminar that we conduct in African countires after UP-TUFS Seminar held on September 2018 in South Africa.
Prof. Jun Matsukuma (VP), Prof. Shinichi Takeuchi, Dr. Kazue Demachi, Dr. Yumi Nakayama and Dr. Takanori Oishi from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) came to Rwanda and made presentations.
The theme of the seminar is "Resource Management and Development", and we invited researchers from Japan, Rwanda, Ghana, Cameroon, South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The opening ceremony of the Global Japan Desk of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies was also held in this seminar. Mr. Soichiro Yamada (Exective Director) and Prof. Matsukuma (VP) from TUFS, and Elisee Musemakweli (Vice Chancellor of PIASS) signed the MOU between two universities.
Dr. Kazuyuki Sasaki (PIASS) has prepared the conference for a longtime from Rwanda.
On the secound day, Prof. Lungisile Nzebeza (University of Cape Town) and Prof. Kojo Amanor (University of Ghana) delivered the comments for the young researchers.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants discussed the outline of the next seminar and future prospects with Prof. Takeuchi (TUFS) in the chair.
