Dr. Sonwa visited Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) in Tsukuba, Ibaraki with Dr. Oishi, a lecturer of ASC - TUFS, and met Dr. Papa Saliou Sarr. Dr. Papa makes a study of crop, livestock, and environment at JIRCAS, and exchanged ideas about their research fields which could develop REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation and the Role of Conservation, Sustainable Management of Forests and Enhancement of Forest Carbon Stocks in Developing Countries).

After that, Dr. Sonwa spent time with members and international students at Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies (TIAS). TIAS is the special course for sports studies, established at University of Tsukuba, towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Game, and many master's students from overseas including African countries study there. Dr. Sonwa also enjoyed talking with a student from Cameroon about soccer which is popular in African countries.
