On May 20, Dr. Godfrey Hampwaye gave a presentation at Kyoto University. The theme of the presentation was "Significance, and Institutional Support to Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture in Africa: Evidence from Zambia". It was the 10th KU-TUFS Seminar.
At first, Dr. Hampwaye explained the definition and the characteristics of Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture (UPA) in Africa. Then, he examined effects of UPA on poverty in 4 cities in Zambia. Many scholars and student, include international students, participated in the seminar, and gave comments on the reality of UPA in African countries.
