October 29, 2014
On Wednesday October 15th, TUFS (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies) and UEC (The University of Electro-Communications) signed the Memorandum of Understanding, a document outlining the implementation of collaboration and cooperation. The purpose of this MOU is to promote cooperation in the following areas; exchange of students, a credit exchange program, education and instruction, joint research projects and symposiums, the vitalization of academic papers, publications and information, and shared campus facilities and amenities.
Our president Tateishi and administrators visited the UEC for the signing ceremony in which people from both universities took part. At the ceremony, TUFS president Tateishi said: “We are planning to establish a Global Japan Office which will be an overseas base and a center for international students. Through those facilities, we would like to help UEC to promote itself internationally, to gain international students, and to help those students adjust to the community." UEC president Fukuda said: “We want to offer an environment in which students can learn and develop a mindset of 'open innovation', and as a result to become effective human resources."
The two universities exchanged opinions and shared their views of the future of the partnership.
