Study Tour "Politics and Economics on the Russia-China Border" Conducted from Nov 18th-20th

December 10, 2014

From November 18th to 20th, a study tour “Politics and Economics on the Russia-Chinese border” was carried out as part of "The Conflict Resistance Project".
The purpose of the tour is to research the following topics: the historical backgrounds of border disputes between Russia and China, the dispute settlement process, and the current situation in the areas surrounding the Russia-China border.

Under the mentorship of Professor Yoshikazu Suzuki (Graduate School of Global Studies), twelve students participated in the tour. Some students currently take “Eurasian Studies B”, a course for International and Area Studies undergraduates, and other students recently studied in Russia.

The students visited historical places such as border cities, war-related sites, and Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok), a TUFS academic partner university. The participants talked with Russian students about China-Russia relations in the far east, as well as history and the present state of Japan-Russia relations.
