TUFS Students Deliver Play in Portuguese in Ooizumi-machi, Gunma Prefecture

On Saturday, December 6th, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Brazil, TUFS Students delivered a play in Portuguese at Ooizumi-machi Bunkamura, a culture center in Ooizumimachi, a city in Ouragun, Gunma prefecture, located in the northwest corner of the Kanto region. 10 percent of the city's population is Brazilian. 
The students played a 20th century comedy masterpiece, “O auto da compadecida” by Ariano Suassuna. Many Brazilian families came to see the performance. As it was performed in their own language, the audience enjoyed the comedy without the time lag lead resulting from reading subtitles. The performers were grateful for the warm reception. After the show, the Brazilian visitors came to the stage and happily talked with the students.
