TUFS Students Take Part in UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development
December 22, 2014
From November 9th to 12th, the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development was held in Aichi, Nagoya Prefecture. Eight TUFS students volunteered at the conference and assisted delegates from around the world. The purpose of the conference is to review 10 years of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and to discuss future measures to be taken.
The Ministry of Education called for student volunteers nationwide, and 200 students were chosen after interviews. The volunteers were briefed on conference content and etiquette.
During the conference, they helped participants by providing information about the schedule, offering venue guidance, and conveying requests from the guests. The students communicated with the delegates in English.
Through the 4-day conference, the TUFS students got to know the delegates and volunteer students from other universities. It was also a good opportunity to consider ways to promote the goal of sustainable development.
