TUFS Takes Part in 2nd Go Global Japan Expo
January 9, 2015
On December 21st, The 2nd Go Global Japan Expo took place at Kwansei Gakuin University in Nishimiya, Hyogo prefecture in the midwest of Japan. The event was an opportunity for high-school students and their parents and was hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). 61 Universities, including TUFS, selected by MEXT for its “Super Global University (SGU) Project” attended the expo. The project started in May 2013, aimed at reforming higher education in Japan to comply with the new global context.
TUFS made a presentation, “From TUFS to the World – An Institution Open to the Global Community,” to high schoolers. The talk included an introduction to the university and its exchange programs and support systems for studying abroad. TUFS students shared their experiences studying abroad with the participants. A student, who was internally selected and sent to the National University of Singapore, talked about life there. Another student described a short visit to the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, (SOAS).
TUFS’ private consultation booth was a huge success. The booth was crowded with high schoolers not only from around the prefecture but also from the southwestern regions such as Kyushu and Shikoku.
