Global Japan Office Opened at University of Yangon

TUFS has set a plan to establish thirty eight “Global Japan Offices” at major partner universities around the world. This plan is projected to support the university’s internationalization and improve Japanese students’ ability to send messages to the world. 

On January 30th, the first Global Japan Office opened in the University of Yangon. University of Yangon’s rector Aung Thu, TUFS president Tateishi, Dr. Yee Yee Maw (Deputy Director General of the Higher Education Department, Lower Myanmar), minister-counselor Maruyama (Japanese embassy in Myanmar), and representatives from educational institutions and Japanese companies attended the opening ceremony.

The office is in the building of the Department of Myanmar of University of Yangon and TUFS emeritus professor Okudaira organizes it as special professor at University of Yangon. TUFS dispatches Japanese language teachers to support exchange students from Japan, and students of University of Yangon who want to study in Japan, and to offer Japanese language classes and extra lectures to introduce Japanese culture.
The office is also expected to be a key institute helping to establish an educational network in Myanmar.
