Lecture Series by Southern African Development Community Ends
February 27, 2015
A series of lectures by Southern African Development Community (SADC) has ended on January 21st. The lectures were carried out every Wednesday, and open to the public. These annual lectures, which were the third time this year, are mandatory for African area studies majors.
This year, ambassadors and representatives from 10 countries (the Kingdom of Lesotho , the Republic of Mozambique, the Republic of South Africa, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Zambia, the Republic of Malawi, the Republic of Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Botswana) visited TUFS and had a meeting with TUFS president Tateishi and executive director Miyazaki (Education, Research, and Internatinal Strategies).
The representatives conducted lectures about the current situation in their countries and relations with Japan. After each lecture, students proactively raised questions and made comments on the topics, showing their high level of interests in South African countries.
TUFS has expanded exchanges with Southern African universities. For example, it signed an international partnership agreement with the University of Zambia in June, 2014. It is expected that this series of lectures will motivate more students to study in those countries.
