On February 2nd, the 9th Nikkei Inc. Japanese speech contest for students in China (Hosts: Nikkei Inc., China Education Association For International Exchange, and The Society of Chinese Professors in Japan) took place. TUFS president Tateishi served as the chief judge and Ito, director of Japanese Language Center for International Students, as a judge.
This speech contest, established in 2006, is for Chinese university students who study Japanese in their country. The competition has been conducted as an international exchange program, aiming at encouraging Chinese university students to study Japanese language and to understand Japanese culture.President Tateishi represented TUFS, which is a global base of Japanese language education, and made a contribution to the program.
At the contest, 16 students who represented their universities made speeches displaying their Japanese ability. The students choose topics from “A letter to myself 10 years from now” and “To build a global village together: roles of the younger generation.” The event also provides a good opportunity to glimpse viewpoints of Chinese young people and how they think.
