Opening Ceremony of Global Japan Office Held in Shanghai International Studies University
April 20, 2015
In 2014, TUFS set a plan to establish "Global Japan Offices" at major partner universities around the world in the next ten years. This plan is to support the university's internationalization and improve Japanese students' ability to send messages to the world. Both are targets of the TUFS Top Global University Project.
On Monday, April 13th, the opening ceremony of the fifth Global Japan Office in Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) took place. SISU president Cao Deming, TUFS president Tateishi and faculty members and students from the two universities, 160 in total, attended the ceremony. SISU president Deming made a celebration speech and TUFS president Tateishi delivered a speech about the roles of foreign languages in international exchange.
The office is located in a building of the School of Japanese Studies and will be utilized as the center of the Joint Education Program, which connects students learning Japanese education at TUFS and students learning Japanese at SISU. In order to enhance relationships between the two universities, events which introduce Japan and extracurricular activities such as Japanese supplementary classes are scheduled.
