Fourth Citizen Lecture Held in Cooperation with Tachikawa Branch of Yomiuri Shimbun

On Saturday, June 6th, the fourth lecture of the Citizen Lecture Series, “Live in the Present: the World Where People Are Living/Have Lived” was held at Prometheus Hall. Professor Ikuya Tokoro delivered a lecture, “Diversity in East Asian Culture: Focus on Small Islands”. This lecture series is sponsored by the Tachikawa branch of the Yomiuri Shimbun.
Using various materials including PowerPoint, pictures, and videos, the professor talked about the diversity of East Asian culture (specially, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines). The lecture was followed by a lively question and answer session. The fifth lecture is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd from 13:30 at Prometheus Hall. Associate professor Naoki Soda will give a lecture, “How Multiethnic Countries Are Created: Cases of Malaysia and Singapore”.
