The South African Ambassador gave a lecture for the Series of Lectures of SADC
November 6, 2015
TUFS provides the series of lectures of Southern African Development Community (SADC) every fall quarter. Speakers from 12 embassies among SADC are invited to give a lecture in English on their history and future prospects, economy, culture, and relationship with Japan. It is the 4th time this year.
The series of lectures 2015 started on Wednesday, October 14th, and the fourth lecturer on November 4th was Her Excellency Ms. Mohau PHEKO, from the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Japan. She gave us an issue open to discussion, that is peace and nuclear weapons, mentioning that Japan is the one and only country which has been A-bombed, and Republic of South Africa is the one and only state which has autonomously disassembled its arsenal.
This series of lectures is held as a required subject for first-year undergraduates majoring in Africa. To promote exchange between Japan and Southern African Countries, the lectures are also open to TUFS students and faculty members without registration.
