Professor Shibata Wins Prize at 2020 Stage Play Script Competition
May 8, 2020
TUFS Professor SHIBATA Shoji (Graduate School of Global Studies, Modern Japanese Literature and theater) was awarded the runner-up prize at the 2020 Stage Play Script Competition (hosted by the Scenario Center) for his play, “Meguriautoki” (“When We Meet”).
Professor Shibata mainly teaches modern Japanese literature at TUFS, but has also continuously given theater-related guidance to students. His awarded play was originally written as a script for students in the TUFS Radio Drama Circle, which he then reworked into a full stage play.
The award ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, but a piece detailing his win will be published in the May edition of the Scenario Center’s monthly publication, “Scenario Classroom”.
