January 22, 2019
On Sunday the 7th of June, TUFS students Chihiro Kobayashi (School of International and Area Studies, Russian Area Studies, second year) and Asaho Kurisu (School of International and Area Studies, Russian Area Studies, second year) came in first and third place respectively in the beginner class of the “47th National Russian Competition” (sponsored by the Japan-Eurasia Society and the Токийский Институт Русского Языка).
In this competition, participants are separated into beginner class and general class based on their Russian academic backgrounds and experiences living in Russia. Ms. Kobayashi and Ms. Kurisu were placed in the beginner class, in which they both had to prepare and deliver a three minute speech entirely in Russian.
Ms. Kobayashi’s topic was “Living in the City”, and Ms. Kurisu’s was “My Teacher, Nicole”, for which they both received high praise.
