Information Session on Quarantine and Infectious Diseases while Travelling Abroad held at TUFS
July 3, 2018
On Wednesday the 27th of June (2018), TUFS welcomed quarantine and medical specialist Ms. Takeuchi from the Quarantine and Health Division of the Tokyo Quarantine Station, and Dr. Yamamoto from the TUFS Health Care Center, to give an information session on “Quarantine and Infectious Diseases while Travelling Abroad”. This information session was targeted at both students planning to study abroad, including long term exchanges and short visits, and students planning to travel abroad in general.
A similar information session was held in December 2017, but as there were students who could not attend at that time, new students, and students whose exchange plans were decided after the previous session, TUFS decided to hold another session. This was the fourth time this information session has been held. The session was held in two parts, and started with a talk from Dr. Yamamoto on pre-departure preparations, things to watch out for when travelling, and stress management techniques.
Quarantine and medical specialist Ms. Takeuchi presented in a quiz-style manner, through which she explained points to watch out for while studying abroad, and the affairs of the Tokyo Quarantine Station. Students showed a particular interest in information on vaccinations, and Ms. Takeuchi addressed their concerns with vaccination information on the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s Quarantine Station website, “FORTH”, discussed the necessity of vaccinations, and shared an effective vaccination schedule.
Around 30 students attended this session, many of whom asked questions about areas they did not fully understand, showing their keen interest in health and safety when travelling abroad.
※The Student Exchange Division is hoping to hold similar sessions in the future and encourage those who could not attend this time to come to the next session.
