Welcome Party held for International Students at TUFS
June 6, 2019
On Thursday 16th May, the Japanese Language Center for International Students (JLC) held an “International Exchange Student Welcome Party” at the University Hall.
This party was held to welcome this spring’s 88 new MEXT students from 42 different countries, and was attended by many TUFS faculty including President HAYASHI Kayoko and Vice President MATSUKUMA Jun. Also in attendance were guests from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various international student support organizations.
The party began with encouraging speeches on study and student life from President Hayashi and Director of the JLC, Professor MURAO Seiichi, which was then followed by a speech from Mr. Naohisa Matsuda from the MEXT Student & International Student Affairs Office. After mingling, the international students spilt into groups to give self-introductions with their newly learnt Japanese, cheerfully bringing the event to a close.
Currently, there are 57 pre-undergraduate students, 26 research students and five teacher training program students studying at the JLC.
