Japanese Ambassador to Angola holds Lecture at TUFS

On Wednesday the 29th of May, the Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Angola, Mr. SAWADA Hironori (a graduate of the TUFS Portuguese/Brazilian Portuguese department), visited TUFS and held a lecture titled “Angola at the Crossroads” (sponsored by the Center for Intercultural Studies and the African Studies Center).
Ambassador Sawada discussed a number of topics including Angolan politics and diplomacy throughout history, and current day Angolan politics, industries and tourism. The ambassador also discussed Japan-Angola relations with a particular focus on cultural exchange and international cooperation/government support activities such as Official Development Assistance (ODA) and mine-clearing.
Around 70 students majoring in African Studies attended this event, and a lively question and answer session was held after the lecture.
