TUFS holds Joint Education Program with UCLAN
August 21, 2019
From Monday the 22nd to Wednesday the 31st of July, TUFS held a Joint Education Program with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), England. Seven students from UCLAN visited Japan with lecturer Mareike Hamann, and studied together with five TUFS students from the School of Japan Studies.
During this program, students participated in a course on “Walking Through Tokyo’s History” taught by Professor Philip Seaton (Institute of Japan Studies, Contemporary Japan Studies). This course aimed at getting students to further their knowledge and understanding of Tokyo’s history through lectures, group work, field work and walking tours. Students also participated in an international symposium on “Area Studies and Intercultural Communication”, and visited Fuchu’s Kyodo-no-Mori Museum, the Edo-Tokyo Museum, the Imperial Palace, the National Diet Building and Yasukuni Shrine. Students from both universities worked hard on their fieldwork and formed lifelong friendships while learning about Japan and Tokyo.
