HIPS Consortium Meeting held at TUFS

April 27, 2020

From April 2020, applications opened for “History in the Public Sphere” (HIPS), a double degree Master’s program conducted by a consortium of four EU universities and TUFS.

Prior to this, on February 21, eight professors coordinating HIPS at the Central European University, the University of Florence and the NOVA University Lisbon, which are all partner universities of the program’s consortium, visited Japan for a consortium meeting at TUFS.

Lead coordinators Professor AOYAMA Toru (Institute of Global Studies, Dean), Professor Philip SEATON (School of Japan Studies, Vice Dean) and Professor SHINOHARA Taku (Institute of Global Studies) participated in this meeting on behalf of TUFS. At the meeting, the participating institutions, and the classes and internships they offer, were introduced, and discussions on the program’s management and curriculum were held.

The visiting group went on a tour of the facilities at TUFS that aid the learning and lifestyles of HIPS students from the EU, and the TUFS library and archives, and also visited the off-campus facilities involved in this program (Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, etc.). TUFS President HAYASHI Kayoko also participated in part of the campus tour and the social events.
