TUFS Outlines its Activities in Latin America at CAEI Chile-2021
October 25, 2021
The Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAEI Chile-2021) was held in Santiago, Chile, on October 14–22. JAFSA organized a joint booth, “Study in Japan,” where TUFS joined other universities that have strong ties with Latin America, including Tsukuba University and Sophia University. At the booth, we provided participants with information about studying in Japan.
In the Japan session held on October 18, University Vice President MATSUKUMA Jun made an online appearance where he talked about the projects we carried out as part of the “Co-Creative Education Program of Humanities and Sciences to Solve Global Issues Confronting Japan and Latin America” (La-CEP). This program is a joint project between Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), the University of Electro-Communications (UEC), and TUFS. The three universities have partnered to foster sound practices and global human resources by actively using their strengths in various academic fields.
La-CEP has been acclaimed as a model international university joint program since having been selected for the Inter-University Exchange Project conducted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). For example, the Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research is an integrated program jointly offered by TUAT, UEC, and TUFS since 2019. The goals and structure of this course are based on the achievements of La-CEP. The doctoral program took these achievements to the next level and was built with the belief that sustainability research is all about dealing with current global issues (development, environmental, and peace-related) and finding ways to resolve them.
