President of Shanghai International Studies University Visits TUFS

On Wednesday, May 31, Mr. LI Yansong, President of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) paid a courtesy visit to TUFS President Kayoko HAYASHI. He was accompanied by Ms. GAO Jie, Dean of the SISU School of Japanese Studies, which has been a great help to TUFS students studying at SISU, and Mr. CHENG Tong, Dean of the SISU School of Asian and African Studies and coordinator of the Consortium for Asian and African Studies Education (CAAS), of which TUFS and SISU are both members. Joining President HAYASHI in welcoming the visitors were Professor Yukari SAWADA and Associate Professor Ryuko TANIGUCHI, as well as international students from SISU who are currently studying at TUFS. There was a lively exchange of opinions on the CAAS symposium scheduled to be held at TUFS this November, the roles of the two universities as foreign language colleges, and the possibility of joint classes and researcher exchanges. Later, the group visited the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa Library, and looked at books and other materials related to China.
