Double Degree Program Agreement between TUFS’ School of Japan Studies and the University of Melbourne

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, a signing ceremony was held at the University of Melbourne, Australia, for the Double Degree Program Agreement between TUFS' School of Japan Studies and the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Arts. The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Russell Goulbourne, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne, and Vice President Nobuo Haruna of TUFS.
Consul General of Japan in Melbourne, Mr. Junji Shimada, attended the ceremony and expressed his hopes for the development of university exchange opportunities between Australia and Japan and for this program. From TUFS, Vice President Haruna, Professor Philip Seaton and former Professor Toru Miyagi attended the ceremony.
The Double Degree Program is a study abroad program that allows students to obtain degrees from two universities, one in Japan and the other overseas. The program will begin in AY 2025, and up to two students from the School of Japan Studies at TUFS are expected to participate each year. TUFS students will study at TUFS until the end of their second year of study, and then combine their time at the University of Melbourne to earn degrees from both universities.
