October 13, 2023
On Wednesday, 11th of October, 2023, the first country in a series of relay lectures by Ambassadors of the Southern African Development Community began with a lecture by Mr. Cabral LAUREANO NETO/Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan. This was the first face-to-face lecture in three years since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The lecture was given in English and covered Angolan geography, culture, history, industry, and the history of diplomatic relations between Angola and Japan. The lecture was followed by energetic questions from the students, making for a lively class.
This relay lecture is a required course for first-year students majoring in African Studies in the School of International and Area Studies, and is offered every Wednesday during the second period of the fall semester in Room 219 of the Research and Lecture Building. It is open to the public on campus in order to promote exchange between Japan and Southern African countries.
