TUFS Holds Opening Ceremony to Celebrate the Completion of the Artificial Turf Grounds

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) established the Artificial Turf Fund and promoted fundraising activities with the aim of installing artificial turf to provide students with a good exercise environment for physical education classes and extracurricular activities, to control dust, to prevent injuries, and to improve usage efficiency after rainy weather. Thanks to generous donations from alumni and many others, work to install the artificial turf began in 2023, and the artificial turf field was completed at the end of March 2024.

On Wednesday, April 3, an opening ceremony was held in the presence of donors, alumni, the Tokyo Gaikokai and the Student Supporter Association.

The ceremony began with a speech by President Kayoko Hayashi, followed by an overview of the construction by Mr. Masayuki Kobayashi, Division Chief of the Facilities and Building Management Division, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with guests of honor and members of the university community. This was followed by a friendly match between the TUFS rugby team and the Waseda University Complex rugby team, which ended in a 42 vs 7 win for the TUFS team.
