Crime Prevention Seminar for International Students
October 3, 2024
On September 30 (Mon.) and October 1 (Tue.), 2024, we invited police officers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and the Fuchu Police Department to hold a crime prevention seminar for international students. Approximately 370 students and their buddies, including ISEPTUFS (exchange students), Japanese Language and Culture Study Program students, and approximately 60 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students, learned how to make an emergency call in Japan, how to avoid getting involved in crimes such as shady jobs, and what to do in case of a disaster.
Prior to the crime prevention seminar on September 30, a meeting was held between Japanese students who were matched with international students through the “buddy system,” which provides support for international students who came to Japan in the fall semester. The students introduced themselves to each other and exchanged contact information, providing a good opportunity for international students to make Japanese friends.
