TUFS Music Fan Club meeting

The TUFS Music Fan Club, established by the International Education Support Office (IES), held the fourth regular meeting at lunchtime on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Lopir Lokitoe Babel (PCS PhD student) gave a very interesting presentation titled "Music in South Sudan". He shared some of his favourite music from South Sudan and introduced the activities of his friends and acquaintances active in the South Sudanese music scene. Around 16 students, staff, and faculty members attended the meeting and engaged in a lively discussion regarding the way music is used politically in South Sudan and the challenges South Sudanese musicians face promoting their music within South Sudan and also internationally.

The goal of the TUFS Music Fan Club is to bring together TUFS faculty, staff, and students through their common love of music. We welcome any member of the TUFS community �C from first year undergraduates to emeritus professors �C to join us in thinking about how musical activities as listener and/or performer enrich our study of language and culture. There are no restrictions on genre, skill, or language �C TUFS�� mission is ��intercultural coexistence��. Join us in creating a space for learning more about genres that we perhaps do not usually listen to, using Japanese, English, and music to communicate.
