ASC Seminar about Security Issues in the Sahel-Sahara Region

African Studies Center will hold ASC Seminar #14 on May 11, 2018. The guest speaker is Mr. Adib Bencherif, who is a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Ottawa and doing his research about terrorism in Sahel-Sahara region at some institutions such as the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Africa and Middle East (CIRAM) of Laval University.

The title is "Security Issues in the Sahel-Sahara region: An illustration through the Malian conflict." His presentation will focus on the security issues and the challenges for the stabilization in the Sahel-Sahara region. Recently, the political instability has worsened, and the tensions between and within local communities has increased drastically in the region. Mr. Bencherif will suggest possible future directions for the region by analyzing the most recent Malian conflict.
