The Mission of TUFS

TUFS contributes to intercultural coexistence

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies has been conducting research and education on the languages of the world, the cultures that are based upon them, international issues, and problems in various regions of the world for many years. Accordingly, as TUFS approaches the 150th anniversary of its foundation, the university is further clarifying its roles as a center for higher education regarding the languages, cultures, and societies of various regions of the world, and as an interdisciplinary research base.

TUFS aims at fostering human resources who can contribute to coexistence and human resources who can address global issues in a Japan and in a world that are becoming increasingly multilingual and multicultural. Moreover, as a university, TUFS is engaged in social contribution projects toward realizing an inclusive society.
